Newbold Ravine Trail Upgrades

The City of Toronto wanted to update us on some planned upgrades. See their message below and you can also download the official notice, which is available as images at the end of this post.

From the City of Toronto:

The school year may be coming to an end, but we wanted to let local schools know that the connection from Newbold Avenue to Beaton Avenue will be undergoing trail improvements this summer.  Proposed construction (see sketch below) includes removal of existing timber steps and installation of new elevated boardwalk, gently sloping trail, and retaining wall.  These works are scheduled to start in June and expected to be completed by mid-August.

Working together with TRCA and RNFP, our objective is to provide improved public access along the trail, while protecting the ravine’s trees and natural environment.

Construction Notices (see attached) are being posted and circulated to the adjacent residents.  Please see the project website (see Upcoming Projects tab) for additional information, or feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

New PA Day (April 15) and pizza lunch rescheduled to April 22

Parents: The TDSB has created a new PA day in April: Friday the 15th is now a PA day. For Bowmore, this means that the pizza lunch scheduled for April the 15th has now been moved to the following week (Friday April 22). Below is a copy of the letter from the TDSB or you can download the PDF version here: PDF version of TDSB letter.

January 20, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are writing to provide you with important information about an additional Professional Activity Day (P.A. Day) that has been added to the calendars of all schools in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB).

All TDSB schools will have a newly designated P.A. Day on Friday, April 15, 2016. This additional P.A. Day has been mandated by the Ministry of Education as a result of provincial labour negotiations.

All TDSB schools will be closed to students on Friday, April 15, 2016. On this day, teachers will be taking part in professional development on provincial education priorities identified by the Minister of Education.

Most Before-and-After School Programs will offer full-day care for children currently registered in their program on the P.A. Day. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to speak to their local child care provider for further details.

The remainder of the 2015-2016 school year calendar remains unaffected. As always, details on the school year calendar can be found on the TDSB website at: http://www.tdsb.on.ca/AboutUs/Calendar

Thank you.

John Malloy, Director of Education
Robin Pilkey, Chair
